on an Android Device
Recording your device’s screen is an important part of making tutorials, capturing gameplay, and saving a “snapshot” of something that you might need for later. You don’t need to be a professional programmer or have expensive software to do it either – recording your phone or tablet’s screen is surprisingly simple. Here’s how to do it.
Android devices come with a built-in screen recorder. Usually, you’ll find this in your device’s Settings app, under the homepage’s tab labeled “Screen Recording.” When you’re in the screen recorder, you’ll be able to select which areas of your device you would like the recording to include, whether you want to include system audio or record from an external microphone, and which video format you’d prefer the recording to be saved in. You can also choose to superimpose an image over your recording and decide which parts are visible or not.
If you’d rather use a third-party app, there are plenty available. Some of the more popular apps allow users to impose custom frames, use gesture shortcuts to start recording, share videos directly over social media, and even add voice-over and annotations while recording.
Before screen recording, you should check to make sure that the apps and services you want to record are allowed under the terms of service and copyright laws of the countries you plan on using them in. You should also turn off any automatic security updates that could stop the recording when they start.
Finally, remember to stop your recording when you’re done, otherwise, your device’s storage could fill up quickly. If you’re saving your recording for something important, like a tutorial or gameplay session, make sure to move it off your device and onto a secure storage platform like Google Drive or Dropbox.
Now you’re ready to start screen recording on your Android device. Happy recording!
