The Bible is the most popular and widespread book in the world. It is compiled of 66 books that were written by over 40 different authors in three main languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
The Bible is structured into two main groups: the Old Testament and the New Testament, which together consist of 39 books and 27 books respectively.
The 39 books of the Old Testament were written during a period of about 1000 years between 1500 to 400 BCE by ancient Israelites, and in three main languages, according to their place of origin: Hebrew (generally for books from Israel), Aramaic (generally for books from Judea and surrounding areas), and Greek (generally for books from outside of Israel).
The 27 books in the New Testament were written from 45 to 96 AD by different authors from various areas, including the Middle East, Mediterranean, and Europe. The majority of these books were originally written in Greek, localized versions of the language commonly used among the Greeks during the time of Jesus.
In total, the Bible includes 66 books, divided into 1189 chapters and 31,102 verses. While this number may seem intimidating, the Bible can be broken down into books, chapters, and individual stories, making it easier to digest.
The Bible is not just one book. It is a compilation of literary works composed during a span of a thousand years and provided a comprehensive view of life in the ancient world on a variety of topics. It is considered by many scholars to be of great historical and literary significance, even today.
