Jupiter is one of the largest planets in our Solar System, and it is big enough to fit hundreds of thousands of Earths inside its vast atmosphere. In fact, this massive planet could fit up to 1,300 Earths within its boundaries.
While that sounds like a lot of space, it’s still nothing compared to what makes up the planet. Jupiter is composed mostly of hydrogen and helium, and the total mass of it is 2.5 times that of all the other planets in our Solar System combined. As it is so much more massive than Earth, Jupiter’s gravity is much more powerful. This is why when you look up into the sky at night and you can’t see anything but stars, it’s due to the fact that Jupiter is blocking our view!
Jupiter, along with other gas giants such as Saturn and Uranus, are some of the most interesting and fascinating planets in our Solar System. They are the biggest and most mysterious of them all, with some barely understood chemistry and physical processes going on within.
We may never know why Jupiter is so large or why it can fit so many Earths inside its atmosphere, but there’s no denying its grandeur. If you ever need a reminder of just how small and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things, just look up at the night sky and remember how many Earths can fit inside Jupiter.
