Country music star Deana Carter was born on January 4, 1966 in Nashville, Tennessee. Born as Deana Kay Carter, she is the daughter of Nashville Songwriters Fred Carter, Jr. and his wife Mary Sue. Deana has two siblings, Fred Carter III, and Jeff Carter.
Deana released her first album on the Arista Nashville label in 1996, titled ‘Did I Shave My Legs For This?’ The album was an instant success, with two hit singles, “Strawberry Wine” and “We Danced Anyway”. The album also garnered Deana a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Deana also released two follow-up albums ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Alright’ in 1998, and ‘I’m Just A Girl’ in 2003.
Deana was nominated for a CMA award for Female Vocalist of the Year in 1997 and has appeared on numerous television and performance shows such as the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville Now, and Hee Haw. A longtime spokesperson for the charity St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, she has also remained active in numerous other charity projects throughout the years.
Currently, Deana is living in Los Angeles, California, where she continues to produce music and perform around the country. She is 54 years old.
