James “Papa Jim” Fitzgerald, the beloved patriarch of the Fitzgerald family, died at the age of 92 in April 2019.
Papa Jim was born in 1927 in a small town in Louisiana. He was the seventh of eleven children born to Mary Ellen and George Fitzgerald. The Fitzgerald family had a rich oral history that Papa Jim was proud to pass down to his own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life Papa Jim worked a variety of different jobs, from construction and firefighting to being a truck driver and a security guard. He was always known as a hard worker who could fix anything and was eager to help out friends and family whenever he could.
Papa Jim was a devoted father, an amazing grandfather, and a great-great grandfather. He always put his family’s needs first and was known for his strong heart and sense of community. He was a mentor and friend to many, providing guidance and support to those in need.
Papa Jim passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He will be remembered by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the people he touched.
