Steve McQueen (1930-1980) was an American actor and filmmaker who achieved tremendous popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His iconic masculine persona and stylish performance made him one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men.
At the height of his career, McQueen had an iconic status considering his roles in films like The Great Escape (1963), Bullitt (1968), The Magnificent Seven (1960) and The Getaway (1972). He was also known as ‘The King of Cool’.
But how tall was the idolized ‘King of Cool’? McQueen stood at a height of 1.77 m (5 feet 10 inches). He was of a medium build and athletic, although he later became slightly overweight in his later years. His defining physical features were his piercing blue eyes, chiseled jaw and iconic hair which was usually styled in his signature buzz cut.
McQueen had a long and varied career, with his five Oscar nominations including one for his role in The Sand Pebbles (1966). Although McQueen never won an Oscar, his immense popularity led to him being considered one of the greatest actors in the history of Hollywood.
