Good leather care is essential to keep your suede shoes looking sharp and maintained. Suede is a delicate material, prone to staining, so extra care must be taken in order to maintain the condition of your suede shoes.
Step 1: Start by brushing off any debris from your shoes with a soft bristled brush.
Step 2: Protect your shoes from water or any other liquid by creating a protective barrier. Use a water repellant spray over the entire surface of the shoe. Similar specialty sprays are available for suede, but a general product will do.
Step 3: Take a damp cloth and gently rub to remove any dirt or stains. If the stain persists, use a dry cloth together with a suede-cleaning product. Follow the instructions on the product label for best results.
Step 4: Let your shoes air dry, but never use direct heat or place them near a radiator.
Step 5: Once the shoes are completely dry, use a soft bristled brush to fluff up the suede and restore the nap.
Step 6: Use a suede protectant spray to complete the cleaning process. This will help to protect your suede shoes from future water and stain damage.
