Knowing if you are pregnant is an important process, whether you are planning to start a family or make sure you aren’t. Here are tell-tale signs of pregnancy that might indicate you are expecting.
Missed or Late Period: The number one sign of pregnancy is a missed or late period. Most women have a regular menstrual cycle, and if it is delayed or skipped, it can be an indicator that you are pregnant.
Morning Sickness: Morning sickness, or nausea and vomiting usually experienced during the morning, is a common symptom of pregnancy. This can even start during the first week of pregnancy.
Tender, Swollen Breasts: Your breasts may become tender, sensitive, swollen or have a tingly sensation. This is a sign of changes in hormones due to pregnancy.
Fatigue: Fatigue or an overall feeling of tiredness is a common sign of pregnancy. Progesterone levels in the body can cause that tired feeling.
Cramping: Some experience cramping in the pelvic area or during the lower abdomen similar to menstrual cramps, which can also be a sign of pregnancy.
Aversions or Cravings: Aversions to certain foods or strong cravings for others can be an indicator of pregnancy.
Urine Test: A home pregnancy test is the most accurate and reliable way to determine if you are pregnant. These tests can detect the level of hCG hormone in your urine. A positive result means you are expecting while a negative result means you are not pregnant.
Of course, if you are experiencing any of these signs, it is always best to check with your doctor. They can evaluate your symptoms and if necessary, do an ultrasound or other tests to confirm─or not─your pregnancy.
