Making almond milk at home is a refreshing and delicious way to enjoy a healthy, dairy-free treat. Homemade almond milk has many benefits, including being more affordable and free from added sugars or preservatives. With a few simple ingredients and minimal effort, you can make creamy, nutty almond milk in no time.
Ingredients
● 1 cup raw, unsalted almonds
● 4 cups water
● Sweetener of Choice (honey, maple syrup, etc.)
● Optional: pinch of salt
Instructions
Soak the almonds overnight in water. This will help soften the almonds, making them easier to blend.
Drain and rinse the almonds.
Add the almonds to a blender and add four cups of water.
Blend on high speed for 2 minutes until the almonds are completely broken down and the mixture is smooth.
Strain the almond milk through a cheesecloth, a fine mesh sieve, or nut milk bag. You may need to squeeze the cheesecloth or nut milk bag to get all of the almond milk out.
Sweeten as desired and add a pinch of salt for extra flavor, if desired.
Pour into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to four days. Shake before serving.
Enjoy your homemade almond milk! For an extra creaminess, try blending in a frozen banana or vanilla bean paste with the almonds before straining. You can also flavor your almond milk with cocoa powder, cinnamon, or other flavorings for variety.
