Making cannabutter is one of the best ways to enjoy cannabis in recipes and medicine. Cannabutter can be used in a variety of dishes, from brownies and cookies to salad dressings. You can easily make it at home with a few simple steps.
Ingredients:
-1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
-¼ oz cannabis flower or trim
-Cheesecloth
Instructions:
Decarb your cannabis: Preheat your oven to 240°F (115°C). Spread your cannabis evenly on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes to decarb (activate) the THC.
Melt the butter: Place the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and melt.
Add the cannabis: Once the butter is melted, add the decarbed cannabis and stir.
Simmer: Increase the heat to low-medium and simmer for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
Strain: Line a mesh strainer with cheesecloth and place over a large bowl. Pour the butter and cannabis mixture through the strainer to remove the plant matter. Discard the plant matter or compost.
Cool and store: Allow the strained butter to cool. Once cooled, place in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
Now your cannabutter is ready to use in your favorite recipes! Start with one teaspoon per serving, and adjust the amount to your desired potency.
