Ingredients:
-4 parts water
-1 part granulated white sugar
-1 container or jar
-Mixing bowl
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar and water and stir until all of the sugar has dissolved into the water.
Pour the mixture into a container or jar.
Place the container or jar near a window or in a backyard area where the hummingbirds are likely to visit.
Refill the container when the level of the nectar begins to get low.
Tips and Warnings:
-It is important to refrigerate any unused hummingbird food once it has been made.
-Never use artificial sweeteners or honey when making your hummingbird food. The birds are unable to digest it and it can be harmful.
-Do not add red dye or food coloring to your hummingbird food as it can be poisonous.
-Be sure to clean and refill your hummingbird feeder every two to three days in order to keep it sanitary.
Now you are ready to attract these wonderful creatures and watch them in your backyard. Hummingbirds are an enjoyable and fascinating animal to observe and providing them with the right food is an important part of keeping them around. Happy Feeding!
