Paper airplanes are a fun and creative way to pass the time with family and friends. Whether you’re at a birthday party, school, home, or just hanging out with your friends, these simple crafts are always a hit with kids and adults alike.
Making paper airplanes is an easy task that only takes a few steps to complete. Gather a few materials and get ready to have some fun!
Firstly, you will need a piece of letter-sized paper. A colored construction paper works great, as it tends to be harder than newspaper copies. Fold the paper in half lengthwise to create a crease down the center. Unfold the paper and fold each end inwards to meet the center crease. Then, fold the top edges downwards about half an inch.
Now, you will use the creases to create the airplane shape. Start with the back of the paper, and fold each side up and in towards the center. Then, bring the remaining sides together to fold again. Take the tip of the plane and fold it down towards the bottom. To further emphasize the wings, you can fold the upper wings in towards the center and fold the bottom wings back outwards.
Secure the wings in place by folding them down and pressing firmly. Finally, you can make the tail of your paper airplane. Flip it over and fold the back of the plane up diagonally. Make sure that the tail is some inches away from the main body, as it will help the plane fly further and straighter.
You’ve now created one of the most iconic crafts of all time! Take your paper airplane outside and test-drive it. You can even take it to a competition or race with friends to see whose design can fly the farthest. Whether you’re soaring through the clouds or just enjoying quality time with family and friends, paper airplanes are a timeless way to have fun.
