Making a delicious pizza at home doesn’t have to be difficult, with a few basic ingredients and time you can make a pizza that rivals those at the best pizzerias. Start with the dough, it’s the foundation for a good pizza, and can be made from scratch or purchased pre-made. Make sure you have the right ingredients before beginning your pizza, such as flour, sugar, yeast, salt, olive oil, and warm water.
To make the dough from scratch, you will need to mix the dry ingredients and then add the warm water and oil gradually. Knead the dough until it’s combined and then let it rise for a few hours. Once the dough has had a chance to rise, you can begin shaping it into a pizza. Roll out the dough with a lightly floured rolling pin, and you can either turn it into a traditional round pie or a square pan pizza.
Next, you’ll need to prepare and apply the sauce. A simple mixture of tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, and salt can make a great homemade sauce. Spread a layer of sauce evenly over the pizza dough, begin at the edge and work your way in.
Once the sauce is spread, you can begin adding your favorite topping. Tomatoes, peppers, olives, mushrooms, or any other vegetables are great in a pizza. After all your chosen toppings have been added, you can finish your pizza with cheese. Any pizza cheese will work, and a nice blend of several cheeses, like mozzarella and parmesan, enhances the flavors.
Once all the ingredients are on the top of your pizza, you can slide it onto a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven. Bake the pizza at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, the sauce is hot and the bottom of the crust is golden brown.
Once the pizza is ready, you can let it sit for a few minutes before slicing, to allow the cheese to set. Enjoy your masterpiece and celebrate your creation of delicious pizza at home!
