Step 1: Start by separating each clove of garlic from the garlic bulb. using your thumbs place pressure on the garlic bulb with your fingers and then twist it to remove each clove.
Step 2: Peel the paper-like skin from the garlic clove. To do this, place the clove between the flat side of your chef’s knife and tap the blade with your hand. The skin will easily come away from the clove.
Step 3: Place the peeled garlic clove on the cutting board and using at a very sharp knife, place your chef’s knife flat against the vegetable and chop by “rocking” the knife up and down until the clove is minced.
Step 4: Once the garlic clove has been minced, use the side of your chef’s knife to drag the garlic into a pile in the center of your cutting board. Then scrape into a bowl with the blade of your knife.
