If you are looking for a temporary break away from Instagram, it can be hard to stay away due to the temptation of scrolling through your feed. Fortunately, Instagram offers the ability to temporarily disable your account, which allows you to take a break while still keeping your account intact.
To temporarily disable your Instagram account follow these steps:
Open the Instagram app.
Tap on the profile icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
Tap on the Settings (gear) icon in the top right-hand corner of your profile.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap ‘Temporarily Disable Account’.
When prompted to ‘Are You Sure’, tap ‘Yes’, and you will be directed to enter the code that is sent to you via text or email.
Once you have entered this code, you will have successfully temporarily disabled your Instagram account.
When you temporarily disable your account, you will be asked to provide a reason why you are taking a break. You can select one of the predefined reasons, or type in your own as to why you are disabling your account. Once this is completed, you will be signed out of the app and your profile will no longer be visible on Instagram.
If you decide to reactivate your account, you can do so by logging back into the app. You will not be able to access the account while it it is temporarily disabled, and all of your posts, messages, and followers will still remain intact.
Temporarily disabling your account is an easy way to take a break from Instagram without permanently deleting your profile. It allows you to step back from the platform and reconnect with yourself, without worrying about wasting time on virtual distractions.
