The Spy Who Shagged Me is a 1999 spy comedy movie starring Mike Myers as the popular British secret agent Austin Powers, with Heather Graham as his nemesis Vanessa Kensington. Directed by Jay Roach and written by Mike Myers and Michael McCullers, the movie is the unofficial sequel to Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, and follows the titular hero attempting to thwart the schemes of his arch-nemesis Dr. Evil.
The story of The Spy Who Shagged Me follows Austin Powers and Vanessa Kensington as they investigate the mysterious disappearance of Austin’s mojo. They soon discover that Dr. Evil has stolen it and is now using it to stop Austin’s plans to save the world. In order to defeat Dr. Evil, Austin must retrieve his mojo and use it to turn back time. With the help of his sidekick, ‘Ming the Merciless’, Austin must defeat Dr. Evil’s various henchmen, travel through time and space, and ultimately travel to 1999 Vegas and confront Dr. Evil.
The movie features a cast of returning favorites, including Seth Green as Dr. Evil’s Mini-Me, Michael York as spy mastermind Basil Exposition, and Rob Lowe as the villainous Mustafa. In addition, the movie features several celebrity cameos from musicians such as Madonna and Elvis Costello, as well as a host of lesser known comics and actors.
The Spy Who Shagged Me was a critical and commercial success, earning over $330 million at the box office and garnering mostly positive reviews. Along with its predecessor, the movie established Austin Powers as one of the comedy film success stories of the 90s, spawning one additional sequel and a number of TV spin-offs, video games, and other merchandise.
