Who Are The Archangels

The archangels are divine messengers that are recognized in many different religions, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Although less popularly discussed than other angels, the archangels are some of the most powerful agents in the spiritual realms.

In Christianity, the four most commonly known archangels are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel. Michael is known for his strength, courage, and protection against evil. He is depicted with a flaming sword and is considered to be a powerful defender against the devil. Gabriel is known for his role as a messenger for God, delivering important messages and announcements, such as the annunciation of the birth of Jesus. Raphael is an angel of healing who guides the members of the faith through healing, comfort and support. Uriel is the angel of light and is known as the angel of knowledge and illumination.

In Judaism, the archangels are often referred to as the Four Faces, or Four Gospels. These are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel. Each of these archangels is thought to be associated with a specific direction or attitude: Michael represents the south, Gabriel the west, Uriel the north, and Raphael the east.

In Islam, there are three archangels: Gabriel, Michael, and Israfil. Gabriel is most recognized within Islam as delivering revelation to the Prophet Muhammad, while Michael and Israfil both hold a role in the Islamic version of the Day of Judgment.

The archangels are seen throughout different religious tradition and it is believed that they can act as intermediaries between God and humans. They are often invoked in prayers and spiritual practices to aid in protection, healing and guidance.
