One of the most debated topics surrounding the events of 9/11 is who was responsible for the attacks on the United States. The answer varies depending on who you ask, and this article attempts to summarize what we know and consider the most likely causes of the 9/11 attacks.
The main culprit behind the 9/11 attacks appears to be Al-Qaeda’s leader, Osama bin Laden. His organization was responsible for the planning and execution of the attacks, utilizing a vast network of terrorists and money to carry them out. Bin Laden and his associates were seen as the primary force behind the events and are held responsible by many in the international community.
Other theories exist, however. A few believe that the 9/11 attacks were orchestrated by the U.S. government itself as a way to justify an invasion of the Middle East. This theory is supported by the fact that multiple warnings were given to the government prior to the attacks, and that some have argued that the towers were deliberately collapsed to create a bigger propaganda effect.
Perhaps the most controversial explanation is that the attacks were an inside job conducted by elements within the U.S. government in order to further their own political agenda. This theory is supported by some, but is viewed as unlikely by many in the intelligence community who believe that Al-Qaeda was the mastermind behind the events.
No matter who is ultimately held responsible for the 9/11 attacks, the tragic day has left an indelible mark on the history of the United States and the world. While the exact circumstances of the attacks will continue to be debated and discussed, the losses from that day will remain in the hearts of those affected by them for years to come.
