Lebron James is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). James began his NBA career in 2003, being selected first overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played for the Cavaliers for 11 seasons and won an NBA championship with them in 2016.
In the summer of 2018, James left the Cavaliers and signed a four-year, $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is the franchise’s biggest star since the days of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.
James has won the NBA MVP award four times and has made the Finals eight times, winning three of them. He is also a four-time NBA scoring champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time FIBA World Cup champion.
In his first season with the Lakers, James averaged 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists for the 2019-20 season. Despite missing over 20 games due to injury, he was named to the All-NBA First Team and was named a finalist for the NBA MVP award. He played a huge part in leading the Lakers to the 2020 NBA Championship and was awarded the Finals MVP.
In the 2020-21 season, James has continued to rack up impressive individual achievements, leading the league in assists and scoring in his age-36 season. James is currently averaging 25.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game, and is firmly in the MVP conversation for the fourth consecutive season.
