Who Framed Roger Rabbit is the 1988 iconic movie by Robert Zemeckis, starring Bob Hoskins, Christopher Lloyd, and featuring the up-and-coming, animated Roger Rabbit. This classic film reinvented how people viewed animation, as well as how Hollywood crossed genres together.
Bob Hoskins plays Eddie Valiant, a detective who is assigned to investigate allegations of a toon involved in a murder. Christopher Lloyd plays Judge Doom, the villain who is determined to eliminate the beloved toons and take over the town of Toontown. Joining these two titans of the screen are a slew of others who make up the core cast and characters.
Charles Fleischer played the memorable Roger Rabbit, the titular character. He was also the host of the show television show “You Can’t Do That on Film/Video” in which he perfected the art of making cartoons come to life. Stubby Kaye plays Marvin Acme, the owner of Toontown and victim of the murder. Lou Hirsch was cast as the popular Baby Herman, a spoiled brat actor who plays Roger’s partner in crime. Christopher Lloyd also plays Benny, the cabby-turned-tumpkin-Whoville-resident who helps out Eddie while covering the story.
Other notable individuals in the cast include Hollwood stars like Kathleen Turner as Jessica Rabbit, Betsy Brantley as Dolores, and Mel Blanc as the voice of several characters. Joanna Cassidy and Eddie Deezen also play pivotal roles in the production as they take on the roles of Angelina and Greasy respectively. There were also several uncredited actors who provided additional voices and characterization, including Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck and June Foray as Granny.
