Chris Rock is one of America’s most recognizable and beloved comedians. He has been a stand-up mainstay since the late 1980s and has enjoyed a successful career with films, television shows, and of course, stand-up shows.
Born in South Carolina, Chris moved to New York in 1984 and began performing stand-up comedy at various clubs around the city. It didn’t take long for him to gain a following and his career rapidly took off. By the late ’80s, Chris was gaining national notoriety and eventually became one of the "Original Kings of Comedy" alongside Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, and D.L. Hugley.
Chris continued to make a name for himself with highly rated HBO comedy specials, as well as his own hit late night talk show, The Chris Rock Show. In 2016, he wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed film, Top Five.
In addition to his on-screen career, Chris Rock is an outspoken critic of racism and injustice in the United States. He’s known for his satirical and often biting social and political commentary. He’s also been a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform, LGBTQ rights, and police reform. He’s also an author, having published a best-selling memoir in 2017.
