Hunter Biden is an American lawyer and lobbyist who is best known as the second child of 46th President of the United States Joseph Robinette “Joe” Biden Jr. He is also well known for his past business dealings and scandals in Ukraine, China, and his involvement in the Burisma Holdings.
Hunter Biden was born on February 4th 1969 in Wilmington, Delaware. Growing up he attended Georgetown University where he received an undergraduate degree in history and a law degree from Yale Law School in 1997. He was first married to Kathleen Buhle in 1993 and then again to Melissa Cohen in 2019. Hunter also has 3 children from his previous marriage who he still has a close relationship with.
In the early 2000’s Hunter began to work at MBNA Corporation as a lobbyist and spent most of his time in Washington, DC. Over the years he has held several positions in the White House and the Delaware State House. Hunter also has a long history of business dealings and investments both in the United States and overseas.
Hunter’s most notable involvement came in 2014 when he joined the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy firm whose owner, Mykola Zlochevsky, was under investigation by the government at the time. This caused uproar in both the Ukraine and the United States and Hunter was accused of using his political connections to help the company. Though he was not charged with any crime, Hunter resigned from the board in 2019 following his father’s election victory.
Throughout his career Hunter has faced numerous controversies from his business dealings to his personal life. He has also been the target of several cyber security attacks which have included videos of him in compromising positions and allegedly discussing political strategy with foreign officials. Despite these setbacks, Hunter remains a close advisor to his father Joe Biden and is expected to play a prominent role in the young Biden 2022 administration.
