Jeffrey Dahmer is one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. Born in 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he took the lives of seventeen men and boys between the years of 1978 and 1991.
At a young age, Dahmer exhibited a fascination with death and showed an unusual preoccupation with animals. As a teenager and young adult, he developed an addiction to alcohol and began to display psychopathic behavior. This behavior eventually escalated to include stalking, killing, dismembering, and consuming his victims.
After his arrest in 1991, Dahmer was declared legally insane. He was tried and found guilty of fifteen out of seventeenth counts of murder and was sentenced to fifteen life terms. He served his sentence in a Wisconsin prison until he was bludgeoned to death in 1994 by a fellow inmate.
Dahmer’s life story has been captured in numerous books, documentaries, and feature films. He is remembered as one of the most reviled serial killers in America. His story is often used as a cautionary tale to illustrate the consequences of unchecked psychopathy.
