Jerrod Carmichael is an American stand-up comedian and actor who has gained immense popularity for his work in television shows like The Carmichael Show and Comedy Central’s The Awkward Comedy Show. He is also well known for his stand-up specials Love at the Store and Jerrod Carmichael: 8 and has acted in several movies such as Transformers the Last Knight and The Disaster Artist.
Carmichael was born on June 22, 1986, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and is known to be an avid fan of sport. He studied radio, television, and film at North Carolina Central University before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting and stand-up comedy.
Throughout his time as a stand-up comedian, Carmichael has seen massive success. He was first scouted to appear on the Russel Simmons Presents: The Ruckus in 2007 and he has been featured in numerous comedy specials and clung the title of Comedy Central’s Hot Comic of the Year in 2012. In 2015, he released his first hour-long stand-up special Love Me at the Store which gained massive popularity.
Carmichael is also well known for his work in television, starring in the NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show which he created alongside Nick Stoller and Ravi Nandan. He also produced the show alongside the team and as of 2017 became the only black producer to sign a multiple year deal with a major network. In 2017 he released his second stand-up special Jerrod Carmichael: 8 on HBO and he is currently in production for The Righteous Gemstones, created and starring Danny McBride, which he wassappointed executive producer.
Carmichael has made a name for himself through stand-up comedy, acting, and television producing, becoming one of the most celebrated comedians of the decade. His trademark blend of intellectualism and irreverence is what sets him apart from other stars and has allowed him to reach a wide audience.
