Kratos is a video game character featured prominently in the God of War series of action-adventure games. Created by game developer Santa Monica Studio, Kratos is featured in a trilogy of action games set in Greece, and in a prequel to the original trilogy set in Norse mythology, where he is the protagonist.
Kratos is an Ancient Greek warrior, who is tricked by the gods into killing his own wife and daughter. This results in his rage causing him to become a powerful and vengeful warrior, determined to take out his wrath on the gods. He makes an unlikely ally in Gaia, the mother of the Earth, and together they rebel against the Olympian gods.
Throughout the games, Kratos is portrayed as a stoic yet ruthless fighter with superhuman strength and agility. He uses various weapons on his quest, including the Blades of Chaos, a pair of blades attached to chains that are forged in the River Styx. The blades were first wielded by Kratos during his ten-year servitude to Ares. He also carries the Blade of Olympus, a golden blade bestowed upon him by Zeus that is capable of killing gods. Kratos is described as both a monster and a hero, and uses his savagery to outwit his opponents and save the day.
Kratos has been a popular character among gamers, with many praising his strong personality and willingness to sacrifice himself in order to save others. Kratos is one of gaming’s most popular characters, with his legacy continuing to increase as new installments of the franchise are released.
