Who Is Springtrap

Springtrap is one of the main antagonists in the popular Five Nights at Freddy’s video game series. He is the phantom form of William Afton, the main culprit responsible for the murders at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

Springtrap’s origin is a bit complex. A long time ago, William Afton and his associates built a suit filled with animatronic components and endoskeletons infused with a living soul––namely, William Afton himself. This was a part of Afton’s experiment to transfer his consciousness over to the animatronic. To do this, the suit was filled with advanced technology used to simulate the human body and features he had been working on.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned and Afton lost his life when his experiment failed and the suit malfunctioned. His spirit inhabited the remains of the suit and from that moment on it became known as Springtrap. Springtrap was buried underground and later found again.

In the game, Springtrap is a decrepit, old-looking suit filled with broken parts and wires. He has a malevolent, monstrous look with glowing green eyes and a toothy rabbit-like grin on his face. His main goal is to hunt down the protagonists and kill them. Springtrap’s power comes from an unusual source: he is able to absorb the life force of others and use it to increase his own strength.

Springtrap is a very dangerous character who can quickly become a nuisance and put the player in a vulnerable situation. He is a powerful foe that should not be taken lightly.
