of The United States
Joe Biden is the 46th President of the United States and the oldest president to assume office at age 78. He was elected president in the 2020 general election on November 3, 2020.
Biden was the 47th Vice President of the United States from 2009 to 2017, serving under Barack Obama. His long and distinguished career in public service began as a Senator from Delaware in 1973 at the age of 29. As a Democratic senator, he co-sponsored 1986’s Comprehensive Crime Control Act, 1990’s Crime Control Act and 2002’s Help America Vote Act, which laid out the groundwork for automated voting machines.
In the 2008 Democratic primary election, Biden unsuccessfully sought the party’s nomination for President of the United States. Later that year, he accepted Obama’s offer to become his running mate in the general election which they won, making Biden the 47th vice president of the United States. During his tenure as Vice President, he was Obama’s chief diplomat and was an integral part of the administration’s foreign and domestic policy decisions.
As President, Biden is focused on dealing with some of the most pressing issues facing the nation, such as: the coronavirus pandemic, environmental justice, racial disparities, immigration reform, and restoring the nation’s economy. He is building on the Obama-Biden’s legacy and is also looking forward to introduce new initiatives and reforms.
Joe Biden is scheduled to take the Oath of Office on January 20, 2021 as the 46th President of the United States.
