The power broker in the United States is undoubtedly the President. In terms of foreign affairs, the President wields immense power through his ability to negotiate international treaties and agreements. He also has the authority to deploy American troops and deploy a massive military apparatus to protect the country’s interests. The President is also in charge of setting the nation’s financial and foreign policy direction, and oversees its enforcement.

Its nine justices serve life terms, and they wield tremendous authority when deciding cases, often leaving an immediate and everlasting effect on the entire country. Their rulings also have the power to change or cement laws and values throughout the United States.

Finally, the wealthiest people in America hold significant sway and power in the US political system. Through generous campaign donations and financially backed foundations, they exercise considerable influence over the political system. Many are also members of the wealthiest 1% of Americans.

In short, there are many power brokers in the United States, from the President to the bankers, lobbyists, business leaders, Supreme Court justices and wealthy individuals. Each of these groups wield immense power, and can ultimately have a positive or negative effect on the success of the country’s economy, its citizens and its future.
