At just 4 feet 8 inches tall, Valeria Levitin has the honors of being the world’s skinniest person. The 33-year-old from Monaco is only visible from the neck up after her bones started to shrink due to her anorexia. She has only 4% body fat and weighs a mere 40lbs.

Valeria’s condition is known as anorexia nervosa, and it runs in her family. Her mother also suffered from anorexia for 10 years, and Valeria followed suit beginning when she was just 14 years old. Eventually, she became so malnourished that her bones began to shrink, including her spine, leaving her in a state where she is unable to walk.

In her spare time, Valeria enjoys writing, art, and reading. She also receives physical and mental therapy daily to try and help her cope with her disorder.

Although her anorexia means her life is far from perfect, Valeria is determined not to let it keep her down. She said “I may be small but I can stand tall now – mentally as well as literally… I can proudly say that I have conquered my disease and I represent a healthy body image now.”

Valeria’s story of strength and resilience should serve as an inspiration to anyone struggling with a similar disorder. Despite the odds, she has come out on top and reminded the world that no matter how hard things get, it is possible to triumph over even the toughest of circumstances.
