When it comes to who is the tallest NBA player, many people immediately think of Yao Ming. The 7-foot-6 Chinese giant was the NBA’s tallest player until his retirement after the 2011-2012 season. However, since his retirement, there have been players that have surpassed Yao Ming’s height.
The title of the world’s tallest NBA player now belongs to Tacko Fall, a center for the Boston Celtics. The Senegalese native stands at an incredible 7-foot-5, which has made him one of the tallest players in the history of basketball. He officially signed with the Celtics on April 15, 2019, after going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft. Fall has found some success in the G League and even made a few appearances for the NBA Celtics in his first season, with some of his most impressive performances coming in 2019 Pre-Season games.
Another notable player who measures up to Falll is Boban Marjanovic, the 7-foot-4 Dallas Mavericks center. The 31-year-old Serbian born player is the fourth tallest active NBA player behind Fall, Kristaps Porzingis, and Isaiah Hartenstein. The three-time All-Star won the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award in 2016 while playing for the Detroit Pistons.
The third tallest NBA player of all time is Manute Bol. At 7-foot-7, Bol was a Sudanese-born professional basketball player who played in the NBA from 1985 to 1995. Although he only averaged 2.6 points per game in his 10-year career, he won the NBA Blocks Leader award thrice and became the first NBA player to record 300 blocks in a single season. Bol was also the tallest player in NBA history until Tacko Fall’s debut in 2019.
In conclusion, Tacko Fall is currently the tallest NBA player in the world. At 7-foot-5, Fall has caught the attention of many basketball fans as he has already found success with the Celtics in his first season.
