Impractical Jokers is an American hidden camera-practical joke reality television series that premiered in 2011 on truTV. The show follows four lifelong friends–Brian "Q" Quinn, James "Murr" Murray, Joe Gatto, and Sal Vulcano–who take turns competing against each other in outrageous, humiliating pranks and dares. The series currently holds a 8.2/10 rating on IMDb and four Emmy Award nominations.
Since 2016, Sal Vulcano has left Impractical Jokers due to creative differences. After the fourth season, Vulcano departed the show for his own series on truTV called The Tenderloins, which was eventually canceled. Sal also opened a bar called “Murr-a-Lago”, which closed its doors after a few years. His departure hasn’t changed the dynamic of Impractical Jokers: Brian, James, and Joe all remain as hosts and the show continues to span the globe for antics.
Despite Sal’s departure, the fan base of Impractical Jokers remains strong. The members of the group, often referred to as the "Tenderloins", have stayed close and continue to hang out regularly. Sal even joined his friends for an Impractical Jokers Cruise in 2018. The stars of the show credit the audience’s passion as one of the reasons the show has lasted and thrived. The show is currently in its eighth season, with more to come in 2020.
Sal Vulcano is missed, but he left a legacy through his involvement in Impractical Jokers. His absence hasn’t stopped the show from continuing its madcap hijinks each episode, but his friendship and charisma are still felt by the loyal die-hard fans. Although he is gone from the show, we can always fondly remember Sal’s well-timed gags and laughter-inducing questions.
