In just a few short years, Fortnite has gone from being a relatively unknown cooperative survival-shooter video game to becoming a worldwide phenomenon. But who was the mind behind this smash hit?

The answer is Epic Games, a Cary, North Carolina based video game developer, publisher and distributer. Epic Games first debuted the game in July of 2017 and has since seen the meteoric rise of their brainchild. The company was founded in 1991 and has since made a name for itself in the gaming sphere with several successful titles, such as Unreal Tournament, Gears of War, and the Infinity Blade series.

In the past three years, Fortnite has become a cultural sensation, winning multiple awards and inspiring legions of passionate fans.
