Anheuser-Busch is one of the world’s largest brewers, producing iconic beers such as Budweiser, Bud Light, and Michelob Ultra, as well as many other beloved brands. The company’s reach extends well beyond just beer, as it also owns SNY Hard Seltzer, Natural Light, and other alcoholic beverage companies. So, who owns Anheuser-Busch?
Since its inception in 1852, Anheuser-Busch has changed hands many times, but its most recent owner has been the global consumer products company InBev. InBev acquired the company in 2008 and merged the two companies into AB InBev.
InABev is headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, but it operates breweries around the world, including in the US and Mexico. The company managed to remain one of the leading brewers in the world even after the merger, as AB InBev produces more than 500 brands, including more than 200 million hectoliters of beer.
AB InBev is an international conglomerate and is jointly owned by three companies: Brazilian private equity group 3G Capital, the Belgian company Albert Frere, and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert. 3G Capital holds a majority stake in the company, and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert is the only Belgian firm in the group. According to Forbes, 3G Capital has a 34.5 percent stake in AB InBev, while Frere and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert holds 27.4 percent and 10.4 percent, respectively.
Anheuser-Busch is just one of the many subsidiaries owned by AB InBev. In addition to Anheuser-Busch and SNY Hard Seltzer, the conglomerate also controls and distributes a number of iconic brands, including Stella Artois, Corona, Budweiser, Hoegaarden, and Corona Light.
Since its merger with AB InBev, Anheuser-Busch has continued to expand globally and innovate as one of the world’s largest and most successful brewers. With a reach that extends beyond just beer and alcohol, AB InBev is undoubtedly set to remain one of the world’s leading consumer goods producers in the years to come.
