DC Comics, one of the biggest names in the comic book industry, has been around for almost 80 years. Over the course of the company’s history, its ownership has changed hands a few times. But who owns DC Comics today?
DC Comics is owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment, a division of Time Warner, and parent company AT&T. Warner Bros. purchased DC from former parent company Warner Communications back in 1969 and has been the sole proprietor of the company since then. The company is held by the WarnerMedia unit, which is the umbrella brand for WarnerMedia’s various businesses, including the Warner Bros. Pictures Group, WarnerMedia Distribution and HBO.
Warner Bros. has gone to great lengths to promote the iconic DC brand, taking part in high-profile releases such as The Dark Knight trilogy, Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
