Subaru, formally known as Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation that manufactures automobiles, aircraft, and other transportation and industrial products. Subaru is a well-known car brand in the United States, with its iconic lineup of reliable, practical, and affordable crossover SUVs.
Subaru is currently a subsidiary of the Japanese holding company, Subaru Corporation. The holding company was formed when the Japanese transportation conglomerate, Fuji Heavy Industries, merged with Subaru Corporation in April of 2017. Together, the two companies (Fuji Heavy Industries and Subaru Corporation) make up the Subaru Corporation.
Under the parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru is in charge of the the design, production, and sales of Subaru cars, as well as other automotive products. The company is led by Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, who currently holds the position of President and CEO.
Subaru is currently owned by its two parent companies, Fuji Heavy Industries and Subaru Corporation. Fuji Heavy Industries also holds a minority stake in Subaru of America, an American subsidiary that markets, distributes, and services Subaru vehicles in the United States. The majority of Subaru of America is owned by the parent company, Subaru Corporation.
