Bitcoin is the world’s first and biggest cryptocurrency. While its ownership is not traceable, certain data from online sources and public records shows that certain people, miners and companies are probably the owners of the largest amounts of Bitcoin.
One of the world’s wealthiest investors, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, is reported to own Bitcoin amounting to $2-3 billion. His investment firm, Space X, and several other creators of alternative coins are also believed to have large amounts of the cryptocurrency.
Other billionaires who own the most Bitcoins include the Winklevoss twins, who acquired $11 million worth of Bitcoin back in 2013, and have become some of the most influential figures in the cryptocurrency space.
Well-known entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and tech entrepreneurs such as Tim Draper, Peter Thiel, and Mark Cuban also hold sizable chunks of Bitcoin.
Even though Bitcoin’s creator and first miner Satoshi Nakamoto isn’t widely known, the anonymous user is assumed to have a wealth estimated at over 60 million in Bitcoin. Additionally, legendary venture capitalist Barry Silbert is estimated to hold considerable amounts of BTC.
There is also a significant number of unknown miners who hold significantly large amounts of Bitcoin. These miners are estimated to be collectively holding over 4 million BTC, with single individuals owning more than 1 million BTC. One popular anonymous miner is estimated to own 1.1 million coins.
The prominent digital currency company, Binance, is believed to be one of the most influential entities in the crypto space and has its hands on a sizable amount of Bitcoin. The company reportedly owns some of the biggest addresses with a total of more than 110,000 BTC.
Thus, from the above data, it’s clear that while the actual ownership of the largest amounts of Bitcoin is unknown, according to several sources, the world’s wealthiest people, anonymous miners and crypto companies are probably the owners of the largest amounts of the cryptocurrency.
