"Star Wars" has seen many beloved characters come and go over the years, but none have created such a devoted following as Princess Leia. Princes Leia was originally played by the late great Carrie Fisher who is fondly remembered for bringing the iconic character to life.
The character of Princess Leia was born in 1977 with the release of the first "Star Wars" movie which was quickly followed by "The Empire Strikes Back" and finally "Return of the Jedi". Princess Leia was a central part of this epic space opera playing a key role in the rebel struggle. She was a brave and fiercely independent character who was unafraid to stand up and fight for what she believed in, no matter the odds.
In the original trilogy, Princess Leia was a fearless leader, unshaken in her beliefs, and willing to do whatever it took to defeat the oppressors. Whether she was leading the task forces for the rebellion or leading the attack on the Death Star, she carried on with courage and determination.
The character of Princess Leia was portrayed by Carrie Fisher from 1977 to 1983 and then again from 2015 to 2016. She reprised her role for the revival of the franchise with the world premier of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in 2015. Her onscreen performance in this movie has been hailed as one of the pinnacles of her career.
Since Carrie Fisher’s death, her daughter Billie Lourd has stepped into the role of Princess Leia, with her first appearance in the 2017 film "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". Billie Lourd portrayed the character as Leia’s Force-sensitive resistance leader in the war against the First Order.
The legacy of Princess Leia will live on in the hearts and minds of "Star Wars" fans across the globe. Although we mourn Carrie Fisher’s passing, Billie Lourd will help ensure that the character of Princess Leia will never be forgotten.
