The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther is King T’Challa of the fictional African nation Wakanda. He is played by Chadwick Boseman who has appeared in a number of films since his breakout performance as Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013).
T’Challa first appeared in Captain America: Civil War (2016) when he followed the call of Iron Man to register with the Sokovian Accords. He had to prove his worth and power to take his rightful place as the leader of Wakanda. He donned the Black Panther costume and fought alongside Captain America and the other heroes of Earth against the forces of Hydra.
The Black Panther movie (2018) was T’Challa’s first solo film. In it, he was forced to confront a challenger to Wakanda’s rule, and combat foes that threatened his kingdom. The movie received praise from both fans and critics, and grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide.
Boseman was awarded an NAACP Image Award for his performance and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. He was also given an Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA nomination.
In Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Boseman reprised his role as Black Panther. With a team of Wakandan warriors behind him, T’Challa led a fight against Thanos and his armies.
He is set to appear in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, which is scheduled to be released in 2022. Boseman’s combination of strength, courage, and heart make him an ideal fit for the Black Panther, an inspirational figure to millions of children around the world.
