Golf Championship
The 2020 US Open Golf Championship was won by Bryson DeChambeau on September 20th, 2020. DeChambeau, who has become known for his remarkable ability to increase his driving distance, set a record at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.
The 27-year-old won his first major championship at the US Open by using his newfound distance off the tee to overpower the massive, tightly guarded greens of the iconic course. This is DeChambeau’s first major, and he finished 6-under par, leading to a one-shot triumph over his nearest rivals.
DeChambeau started the final day of the tournament in a tie for the lead but quickly pulled away, birdieing four of the first seven holes and building what proved to be an insurmountable lead. He cruised through the remaining holes and became the second player in history to win a major championship after leading wire-to-wire.
The US Open is the second most prestigious major golf tournament in the world, after the Masters. DeChambeau has now joined a list of legendary names to win the US Open and it is a fitting tribute to his hard work and dedication to the game.
