Who Wrote Revelation

The book of Revelation is the final book of the New Testament in the Bible and the only apocalyptic book of the Bible. It has sparked a plethora of debate within Christian circles over the centuries and is considered by many to be one of the most mysterious books of all time.

But who wrote this mysterious book? Many scholars believe that the book was written by John the Evangelist, also known as John of Patmos. Some evidence for this comes from the author’s usage of the phrase "I, John," which appears several times in the book of Revelation. This same phrase is used a number of times throughout the gospel of John, which has been attributed to John the Evangelist.

Other evidence that suggests that John the Evangelist was the author of Revelation comes from the early church fathers, who attributed the authorship of the book to the Apostle John. In addition, both the gospel of John and the book of Revelation share similar themes and language, leading some to believe that they were written by the same author.

Still, other scholars have argued that the book was written by another John – John of Ephesus. This theory holds that John of Patmos was just a pseudonym for John of Ephesus, who wrote the book in his own name but adopted the pseudonym in order to protect himself from persecution.

Ultimately, however, the authorship of the book of Revelation remains shrouded in mystery. It may well be that the truth will never be known and the author of the book of Revelation will remain an enigma forever.
